Coasteer with the best in Cornwall! Here at Era Adventures, we are all experienced Lifeguards and Coasteer instructors and members of the British Coasteering Federation, so you can rest assured you're in safe and industry-approved hands. We offer a range of coastal routes to suit the conditions and the client’s ability. These routes have been accurately risk assessed to ensure a balance between exhilaration and safety. Join us to experience the natural beauty of this coastline from a unique perspective.

Coasteering is just as suited for thrill seekers as it is for novices. Our taster sessions are designed to suit your level of confidence. For a completely different taste of the Cornish Coast with approved coasteering specialists, book your session today with Era Adventures.

What to Expect on the Day

Beginner Sessions

Our introductory sessions for complete beginners are perfect for those who have never tried the thrill of coasteering before or who haven’t got super confident sea legs. You’ll still get to experience all of the thrills of scrambling, exploring and plenty of time in the sea but with a nice balance to meet your experience. No one will force you to take a big leap! The coasteering route for novices and first-timers is a little secluded section of the rugged coastline meaning it’s far less choppy than some of the other locations for more advance coasteers. These taster sessions are great for teenagers, families and people of all ages who want to try something a little different in Cornwall.

Advanced Sessions

If you’ve caught the bug already, and have a bit of coasteering experience under your belt, our advanced sessions are guaranteed to bring you all the thrills you’d expect whilst putting your experience and skills to the ultimate test. Unlike our beginners sessions, you’ll be taken to some of our more challenging stretches of coastline we play off of. Prepare for serious swell, some gigantium leaps and awesome scrambling and caving adventures. Definitely not for the faint-hearted!

We'll provide the kit

You don’t need to worry about having the latest kit for your coasteering session, though if you do have your own and you wish to bring it along you are more than welcome. Here at Era Adventures, we provide all the equipment you need to get cracking on one of our courses. You’ll have safety-checked helmets, buoyancy aids, wetsuits and boots all available for you to use on the day.

Gaining your Coasteering Award

For those of you who’ve caught the bug, have been undertaking advanced sessions for a while, and are considering taking it to the next level. Here at Era Adventures, we offer a 2 day coasteer award accredited by SLSGB (surf lifesaving GB). You’ll have your levels of fitness put through their paces and be assessed on your life-saver abilities in a variety of situations you might experience as a coasteering instructor.

Frequently Asked Questions

How safe is coasteering?

Coasteering with Era Adventures is as safe as it gets. All of our instructors are fully qualified with years of experience. All our routes are risk-assessed too to ensure your safety in the delivery of one of our sessions.

Are your instructors qualified?

Yes, all our instructors are qualified first aiders and have their SSLGB certified coaster awards meaning they are fully qualified to take you out on your session.

How fit and able do I have to be? Are there any age limits?

We advise that anyone over the age of ten, with general good health, should be perfectly able-bodied for a coasteering session.

What kind of swimming ability will I need?

To be safe, we would advise that you shouldn’t undertake a coasteering session unless you can swim two lengths of a normal 25-metre pool competently.

What should I bring with me on the day?

There’s no need to worry about bringing any kit with you, as we can provide all you need to get coasteering from our site.

What if heights give me the heebie-jeebies?

There is no need to worry if heights make you a bit skittish. Whilst there are jumps on the coasteering courses and routes we go on, there is absolutely no obligation to jump. You can get your kicks from scrambling, caving and enjoying the coastal inlets without having to go above a height you are comfortable with!

Will the session get cancelled in bad weather?

Rough weather will rarely interfere with your session. If it is going to rain, it doesn’t make a huge amount of difference, as you’ll be soaking by the end of it anyway. Wetsuits will keep you nice and warm too when the water is colder. Plus, we have a range of spots where we coaster, so on particularly choppy days, we can find an alternative which is nicely sheltered from the elements at their most.
