Era’s ethos has always been strongly linked with water rescue, Surfing and training. We offer International Life Saving (ILS) Approved Beach Lifeguard courses running from Polzeath and Fistral beach, Newquay, along with the option to train and become a BSA fully accredited surf Coach with our combined award. Era is also looking to the future of water rescue and tow-in surfing with K38 training being the very best in the business.
The lifeguard training team offer the unique service of the mobile lifeguard training school, we can train lifeguards anywhere in the UK and travel abroad to suit your needs.

BSA Level 1 Surf Coach Award
BSA Level 1 Surf Coach Award - £250 per person (3 day course)
Combined BSA Level 1 Surf Coach Award & Beach Lifeguard Qualification - £450 per person
The surf instructor course from the British Surfing Association (BSA) is the official qualification required for working as a surf instructor or surf coach in this country and abroad. The BSA qualification allows you to seek employment at hundreds of surf schools in Britain and in countries all over the world. The course covers all aspects of surf education including surf safety, surfing techniques and group management. Successful trainees go on to work as surf instructors or surf coaches, introducing beginners and helping improvers enjoy wave riding or take their surfing to the next level.
Prerequisite:
- A current Beach Life Saving Qualification acceptable to the BSA.
- At least two years personal surfing experience.
The BSA Level 1 Coach will demonstrate that their Personal Surfing Ability is of an acceptable standard. They will further demonstrate that they are competent to coach surfers (on land and in the water) from Beginners (never surfed before) through to Intermediate Level (able to paddle outside, catch green waves and ride right and left whilst performing basic manoeuvres).
Level 1 is aimed at individuals, with experience of surfing, who are new to surf coaching and who wish to coach basic surfing techniques. The Level 1 Award is the minimum requirement for Surf Club Coaches, School Teachers and others wishing to teach the sport as BSA Accredited Coaches.
All awards are valid for three years from the date of the Coaching Accreditation Course or until the relevant lifesaving qualification expires (whichever is earlier).
RLSS & NARS Beach Lifeguard Awards

We deliver Internationally recognised Beach Lifeguard awards ranging from junior Life Saving through to advanced surf lifeguard awards.
The Era Adventures lifeguard training school is based in Polzeath and operates on various beaches in Cornwall. The school also offers the unique service of a mobile unit to offer lifeguard training across the UK and Worldwide.
We are a team of experienced Lifeguards and Trainers. We have worked on many beaches world wide and have had first hand experience in dealing with rescues, drownings, resuscitations and first aid which we apply to your training.
This course is not for the faint hearted, the training involves running, swimming, rescuing and dragging casualties through the surf zone and up the beach using rescue boards and rescue tubes. The course also covers Lifeguard and First Aid theory, Basic life support and spinal management. Candidates must be over 16 years of age, physically fit and able to swim 400 metres in under seven minutes, thirty seconds for the NaRS Lifeguard Award and eight minutes for the RLSS Lifeguard Qualification.

K38 Event, Rescue Cover & Training
K38 tow-in surfing, film and event medical, safety and lifeguard cover. Based n Cornwall PWC Training home of K38 UK are one of the countries only PWC (Personal Watercraft or jet ski) specific training centers, specializing in rescue and safety courses!
As an RYA recognised training center PWC Training deliver the RYA PW (Jet Ski) Proficiency Course to both recreational and commercial PWC (jet ski) operators. The course is then used as a pre-requisite for the K38 PWC / RWC (Rescue Watercraft) Courses.

K38 Swift-water Training Course for river and flood rescue professionals.
K38 UK is an International Affiliate of K38 Rescue. Providing Personal Watercraft or Rescue Watercraft (PWC / RWC / Jet ski) Rescue Training courses. Courses are aimed at Rescue Professionals who use PWC's / Jetski's such as Fire and Rescue Services, Lifeguards, the Police, the Military whether in the Ocean, Swift water and flood situations. The correct PWC or Jet ski training is essential for safe, competent operation for both the recreational and professional user.
Currently on offer are the Rescue Boat Operator Course and the Tow Operator course, designed for the emerging sport of Tow Surfing. From April 2008 we will also be offering PWC Swift water rescue courses.

- Payment: We currently accept cheques & most major credit or debit cards. Card payments must be made over the telephone. Please make all cheques payable to Era-Adventures.
- 50% of the fee must be made at the time of booking with the final 50% payment made by the start of course.
- Course fees are inclusive of course materials, assessment fees. It does not cover beverages or lunches.
- Cancellation: On booking your course you will be required to pay a 50% DEPOSIT, which is non-refundable on cancellation.
